Pabna-4 MP Sherif passes away

Shamsur Rahman Sherif, MP from Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atghoria) constituency and president of Pabna district Awami League, died at the age of 80. He breathed his last at about 5:30 am Thursday at United Hospital in the capital. 

He left behind his wife, four sons, five daughters, a host of relatives, well-wishers, many party men and admires to mourn his death.The five-time MP who is also a former land minister had been suffering from various ailments and was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital for the last several days.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the veteran politician and freedom fighter. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

In a condolence message, President Hamid saidtaht  the Awami League lost an efficient organiser as well as a veteran politician. “The loss at his death is really irreparable to the political arena of Bangladesh,” he said.

In her condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh recalled that Shamsur Rahman Sherif served the  country and the nation throughout his life as a soldier of the ideology of the greatest Bengali of all times and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Shamsur Rahman Sherif was born his maternal grandfather’s home at Char Shanirdiar village under Hemayetpur union in Pabna Sadar upazila. His ancestral home at Laxmikunda village under Ishwardi upazila in the district. He will be buried Laxmikunda village.
