A total of 950,000 children in Bogura district are set to receive the typhoid vaccine as part of a major immunisation campaign. So far, around 300,000 children have already been registered, and the campaign is actively ongoing.
This information was shared during a press briefing held on Wednesday afternoon at the Civil Surgeon’s Office in Bogura. Speaking at the event, Civil Surgeon Dr Khurshid Alam stated that, starting 12 October, all children aged between 9 months and under 15 years, including students from pre-primary to class nine, will receive one free dose of the typhoid vaccine.
Dr Alam also urged the public not to be misled by rumours or misinformation regarding the vaccine. He assured that the vaccine being used has already been administered in neighbouring countries without any reports of serious side effects.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Nur E Shadid, Dr Tariq Md Reza from the World Health Organization, and Rahaat Ritu, Vice President of the Bogura Press Club, also spoke at the event.
