Over 74mn people get relief aid in pandemic

As part of the government’s continuous effort of distributing relief during the current corona virus crisis, over 7.41 crore people under more than 1.70 crore families have received the government relief assistance throughout the country, reports BSS.

“Around 7,41,32,312 individuals of 1.70, 40,841 families have been benefited with the government relief assistance during this ongoing COVID-19 crisis”, said an official release on Sunday.

The government has so far distributed 1.98, 451 tonnes out of 2,14,939 tonnes of rice among the people, according to the data provided by 64 district administrations till July 18.

The government has allocated more than Taka126 crore in cash for purchasing other goods including the baby food across the country.

Of the total allocation, Taka 98 crore 58 lakh 28 thousands in cash have been earmarked for purchasing relief materials …where nearly Taka 95 crore 8 lakh 54 thousands have been distributed among 4,47,27,554 individuals under more 1.02 crore families, it said.

The government has distributed baby food of Taka 26.44 crore among more 18.81 lakh people under 8.72 lakh families against the total allocation of Taka 27.23 crore, the PID handout added.
