Over 50pc buildings breed Dengue larvae

Survey in the capital reveals

Aedes Mosquito larvae have been found in 56 percent of the houses in the capital, according to a just released survey report conducted by Bangladesh Scouts.
The scout members visited 101,765 buildings from July 1 to Saturday (August 10), of those, they found larvae of Aedes mosquito at 62,237 houses. DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon made the disclosure at an inauguration ceremony of distributing mosquito insecticide Aerosol spray to 63,000 building owners in the capital.
Khokon said, “We started our work to prevent Aedes mosquito from laying eggs since March, which is continuing till now. Apart from Bangladesh, the outbreak of Aedes mosquito is also prevalent in 126 countries in the world including Singapore and Philippine.”

“We have fixed our planning to destroy the larvae of Aedes mosquito as per the direction of World Health Organization (WHO),” he said. The Mayor also said, “We will distribute about 63,000 Aerosol sprays among our taxpayers under DSCC area. If house owners allow, our workers will spray inside their houses.” The Mayor also sought cooperation of all city dwellers to prevent dengue and destroying the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito.
