More than 500 poor, helpless and low-income people received dry food as an Eid gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Sarishabari in Jamalpur on Saturday.
The local Member of Parliament Md. Abdur Rashid distributed the food items to the poor people at the auditorium room of the Upazila Parishad at noon.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Akhtar presided over the programme while Md. Abdur Rashid MP was present as the chief guest. The project implementation officer Shaokat Jamil conducted the programme.
Municipality Mayor Monir Uddin, Municipality Awami League President Mizanur Rahman, Upazila Awami League Vice President MA Gani, Advocate Shahidul Islam, Heroic Freedom Fighter Akhter Uzzaman, newly-elected Upazila Vice Chairman Al Amin Hossain Shiblu, Women Vice Chairman Mahmuda Akter Shikha and others were present there.
Each food packet consists of rice, dal, salt, sugar, soybean oil, chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, etc.
