Over 4.50 crore people across the country have received relief as the government continues its humanitarian assistance to mitigate their sufferings in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, reports BSS.
A total of 1,53,217 metric tons of rice has been allocated as relief and of the volume, 1,15,033 metric tons has been distributed among 4.50 crore people of nearly one crore families across the country till May 11 (Monday), said an official handout on Tuesday, quoting sixty-four district administrations.
Besides, the government has allocated nearly Taka 80 crore in cash as relief and more Taka 52.76 crore so far has been distributed among 3.10 crore individuals of 59,96,115 families.
A total of 8 lakh beneficiaries of four lakh families got baby food aid worth Taka 13.10 crore, out of Taka 16 crore allocated by the government, the handout added.
