During the coronation period, human bondage has been held in Bandarban health department to demand job security through outsourcing.
On Sunday, at 11 am in front of the Bandarban Press Club, 16 employees of Bandarban Sadar Hospital, who were employed in outsourcing, staged a human chain to demand that their jobs be made permanent.
Speakers at the human chain said that when people across the country were infected with the corona virus and the medical system was fragile to deal with the corona crisis due to lack of manpower in the hospital in a very difficult situation, 16 of them were recruited. Later, when one person left his job and moved to another place, he said that there are currently 16 people and they have 6 months salary arrears.
Speakers said during the pandemic, doctors risked their lives and treated patients for the last two years. Many of them are now past the working age and their families are in a lot of trouble, the speakers said. He sought the goodwill of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Minister of Health and Minister of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts for making their jobs permanent and improving family and social life.
Farooq, Nu Mong Pru Marma, Jasim Uddin, Usai Mong Marma and others spoke on human bond. After reviewing the documents, it is learned that the job seekers received in the light of the recruitment notification issued on 10th September, 2020 with the approval of Health Department, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, were assigned to Bandarban Hill District Council on 3rd October, 2020. The outsourcing project expires on April 26, 2022.
Dr.Nihar Ranjan Nandi, Civil Surgeon of Bandarban Sadar Hospital informed that there is a shortage of manpower in the hospital. In order to alleviate the manpower crisis, 18 people were recruited from the Bandarban Hill District Council at the Sadar Hospital in 2020 through outsourcing project. One later quit his job. But with the end of the project, their jobs are over. He further added that the chairman of the Hill District Council has been informed about the expiration of the outsourcing project by holding a meeting on May 12 on humanitarian grounds.
