The ruling Awami League high command must oust the ‘seasonal birds’ from the party’s leadership immediately as the national election approaches nearer. Otherwise, these organised intruders, seasonal birds and opportunists will continue affecting Awami League’s image in many ways.

The 12th parliamentary election is scheduled to be held by December 2023 or early 2024. Cleaning drive is being carried out to give the party a new look with the inclusion of dedicated and tested leaders while exclusion of seasonal birds’ and fortune seekers.

But the fact is that the tested leaders and workers who stay with the party during its crisis and never tarnish the image of the party are being sidelined gradually while the intruders are getting involved in many crimes, causing harm to the reputation of the Awami League. Therefore, intruders and opportunists must be ousted from the party as early as possible.

Intruders and opportunists

must be ousted from the

party as early as possible

A number of audios and videos containing indecent remarks by State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murad Hassan went viral on social media during the last few days, tarnishing the image of the party. As per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his offensive and indecent remarks on women, Murad Hassan on Tuesday resigned from the cabinet.

Besides, the party also expelled its Gazipur city unit general secretary and city mayor Zahangir Alam for life over allegations of making derogatory comments about the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyred freedom fighters recently.

Apart from them, many leaders are under scrutiny because of their disrespectful remarks on party and other immoral, unethical and illegal activities.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina obtained a list of 1,500 intruders. The premier asked to take necessary steps against the ‘seasonal birds’ and oust them from the party immediately.

It is alleged that some influential inside the party  are patronising the opportunists or intruders and giving them shelter. Therefore, Awami League  should take necessary action against the so-called intruders. Besides, the party has to rejuvenate its organisational activities in order to gear up the leaders and activists to make the party more strong at the grassroots level.

The tested and dedicated leaders and workers will have to be evaluated properly. We believe when the dedicated and honest leaders will be evaluated, they will give their best to serve the country.
