Taskin Ahmed’s optimistic outlook for the Bangladesh cricket team’s performance in the Asia Cup is based on their recent progress and improvements in the ODI format. Despite being a strong team in ODI cricket and winning against top teams consistently, Bangladesh’s success in multinational tournaments has been limited. Their only triumph in a multinational tournament came in 2019 during a tri-nation series.
Taskin Ahmed acknowledges that reaching the final of the Asia Cup has been a goal that the team has fallen short of achieving in the past. They have made it to the final three times but have not been able to clinch the trophy. However, Taskin believes that this time, the team has the potential to overcome past challenges and emerge victorious.
“Obviously our main target is to play the final of Asia Cup and we believe we can do it,” he said on Sunday before leaving the country for Sri Lanka to play the Asia Cup with the side.
He emphasizes the importance of teamwork and collective effort. Taskin mentions that while winning the championship is the ultimate goal, playing their best cricket and showcasing their capabilities is crucial, especially with the ICC Cricket World Cup approaching. By focusing on giving their best performance, Taskin is confident that Bangladesh can achieve success in the Asia Cup.
“Team’s achievement always comes top. I will be happy if we can play as a team and reach the final. Definitely we would like to be champions but the main thing is to play our best cricket since we have ICC Cricket World Cup coming shortly. I firmly believe if we can put up our best game, it is possible to become the champion.”
Taskin also highlights the team’s recent performances in ODI cricket, where they have won eight out of fifteen matches and made changes to their batting approach to consistently aim for 300+ totals. He believes that the team’s overall performance graph is satisfactory and that each player is contributing their best to the team’s success.
In conclusion, Taskin Ahmed’s positive and determined perspective reflects the team’s ambitions to win the Asia Cup by playing their best cricket and capitalizing on the improvements they’ve made in their gameplay. The focus on teamwork and giving their best effort aligns with their preparations for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup as well.
“Our performance graph is satisfactory. Everyone is trying to contribution as much as it is possible from his position. So I think we stand on a good chance to achieve a result we are craving for,” he reckoned.
