ORYX to invest $300m in Bangabandhu High-Tech City

With an aim to work with biotechnology, ORYX Bio-Tech Limited Is going to make an investment of $300 million at Bangabandhu High-Tech City (BHTC). To this end, Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) has already allotted 25 acres of land at Block 2 of BHTC. ORYX wants to construct a plant at the high-tech city, which will be capable to analyze 1200 ton plasma yearly. With this plant 20 Plasma Collection Stations will be connected. Authority of the organization has expressed its commitment to keep the World Health Organization and other developed countries standard in this regard.

With the implementation of such a plant, biotech products will be available in the country, for successful plant installation, ORYX will take technical support from the Chinese biggest Bio-Tech company Sinopharm Group. Representatives of ORYX in a meeting with BHTPA authority have expressed their interest on Sunday.

It is to be noted, Biotechnology is widely being used in developed countries like the United States, Europe, China, and Japan. Biotech products are produced from Human Plasma. These products are widely used in HIV aids and cancer treatment. Besides, these products are also useful to prevent diseases caused by viruses and bacterial diseases, including SARS, influenza, foot and mouth infections.

ORYX authority concerned said, the bio-product of high technology is a complex procedure. From the ORYX representatives, it was learnt that the project would help to achieve vision 2021 as it will make an investment of $300 million and will create 2000 job opportunities. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak assured the company to cooperate with any kind of help to implement the project at a faster pace. He also suggests the BHTPA officials to provide all sorts of support for the project.

Mentionable, BHTPA is the authorised government body responsible to establish the high tech park, also known as Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park, being constructing on 355 acres of land. This is the first project of BHTPA whose overall infrastructure is almost completed.
