A human chain and protest rally was held in Lakshmipur and Thakurgaon on Sunday, to protest against the misinterpretation of the sculpture of Father of the Nation by the extremist fundamentalist group and the insulting remarks about Bangabandhu.
In Lakshmipur, the protest was organized under the banner of District Sechchhasebak League in front of Lakshmipur Press Club at around 12 in noon.
Advocate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan, General Secretary of District Awami League, Shimul Shah, Vice President of District Swechchhasebak League, General Secretary Mahabub Imtiaz and other leaders of different units spoke on the occasion.
At this time the speakers sharply criticized the opponents of Bangabandhu sculpture construction in Dholaikhal and warned that there would not have a place for any fundamentalist or extremist in Bangabandhu’s Bengal.
In Thakurgaon, district branch of the Bangladesh Swecchasebak League organized the human chain at the Chourasta More in Thakurgaon town in the afternoon.
President of Bangladesh Awami League Municipal Branch Ekramul Haque, President of District Swecchasebak League Nazmul Huda Shah Apollo, General Secretary Kamruzzaman Sunam and others spoke on the occasion.
