Tigers Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who got the captaincy with a great performance last year but he is far behind in T20 strike rate compared to the other captains.
Just one fact is clear how far Shanto is behind. Among the captains of the participating teams only one captain has a lower strike rate than Shanto. And that team is Uganda will play for the first time in any kind of World Cup. All captains of the remaining 18 teams are ahead of Shanto in strike rate.
So far, Shanto has played 34 international T20 matches and scored 719 runs at an average of 21.14. However, he scored this run at a strike rate of only 111.05. On the other hand, Ugandan Skipper Brian Masaba with a strike rate 107.94 in 59 outings in T20. He scored 435 runs at an average of 18.12. It should be remembered Masaba is bowler.Masaba is very successful as a captain despite his low strike rate. He is jointly at the top with Babar Azam of Pakistan, winning the most international T20 encounters. Under the leadership of Babar and Masaba, Pakistan-Uganda have won 44 matches each.
South Africa's Aiden Markram has the highest strike rate among the captains of the teams going to participate in the World Cup. The Proteas captain scored 1,118 runs at an average of 38.55 and a strike rate of 150.67 in his 39 matches in the shorter version. Among the captains, only he has a strike rate of more than 150.
England's Jos Buttler is next to Markram. Buttler's run count is 2,927 in 114 T20Is at an average of 34.84 and a strike rate of 144.61. After Butler, West Indies' Rovman Powell (144.81), India's Rohit Sharma (139.97), Australia's Mitchell Marsh (135.34) are in the top five respectively.
Among the rest of the top eight teams in Test cricket, Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga (130.52) and Pakistan captain Babar Azam (129.41) are at number nine and 10 respectively.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (123.64) is at number 13. Apart from this, the remaining two Test playing countries Ireland and Afghanistan Captain Paul Sterling (135.20) and Rashid Khan (128.75) are in sixth and 11th place respectively.
