Against the backdrop of interfering in the internal affairs of Bangladesh by some countries and conspiracies hatched at home and abroad, the country’s all constituencies have already turned into festive mood centring upcoming the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections slated for January 7, 2023.

So, poll fever is gripping the people with even office, remote area, tea stall, dinner table, and drawing room talk zeroing in on which political party will form the country’s next government. As part of the preparations, Awami League (AL), Jatiya Party and other political parties have already field candidates in 300 seats in the upcoming general elections.

The government has given the country’s democracy a strong footing. It has done everything required to hold a fair election that includes introducing a voter list with photographs and transparent ballot boxes as none can manipulate the polls.

The government has taken all preparations to set an example holding the next general election in a free and fair manner. To hold a free, fair and non-violent election, all irrespective of political affiliation should exhibit topmost sincerity.

The election is the most important aspect of reflecting public opinion in the democratic process. Through elections, the voters choose their representatives by which people’s expectations are fulfilled.

So, now all eyes from around the country are trained on the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal led Election Commission (EC) with the 12th parliamentary polls approaching nearer. We believe the commission will play responsible role with courage and sincerity to hold next national elections in a free, fair and credible manner following the Constitutional rules and regulations.

The commission has been given absolute authority. The EC is constituted under a law and the prime minister does not appoint election commissioners.

The BNP has already missed ‘train of upcoming election’ as the poll train does not wait for anyone and the polls will be held on time.  The party (BNP) has concentrated on the path of violence and arson attack so that it will have to pay for their ‘political error like in the past. As the party boycotted national electoral race this also, it will fall in deep crisis again.
