Online cattle market opens in Chuadanga

Farmers and others have reared a huge number of sacrificial animals in four upazilas of Chuadanga district for selling them on the eve of Eid-ulAzha this year. District Administration has arranged digital market (Online Poshu Hut, Chuadanga) for all for selling and buying the animals. 

According to District Livestock Department a total of 38,842 cattle and 1, 45,039 goats and sheep have been reared as sacrificial animals in the district. At least 6,257 cattle are in sadar upazila, 18,479 in Alamdanga upazila, 6,455 in Damurhuda upazila and 7, 6521 in Jibannagar upazila. On the other hand 24,567 goats and sheep are in sadar upazila, 40,218 in Alamdanga upazila, 34,345 in Damurhuda upazila and 45,914 in Jibannagar upazla. 

It is learnt that about 1,742 farms are in sadar upazila, 1,315 in Damurhuda upazila, 1,750 in Jibannagar upazila and 2,530 in Alamdanga upazila. Cows, goats and sheep have been reared at the farms by farmers, unemployed educated youths, students of colleges and day laborers. AlamgirKabir Shiplu of village Kulpala in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district told the Bangladesh Post that he bought 6 cattle 9 months back and began to rear these at his home for preparing to sell before Eid-ulAzha. About tk. 80,000 has been spent as rearing expenditure for each cattle up to date. Frequently one or more are coming to buy it but went back without purchasing.  

Abdulla Mondol from village Nehalpur in sadar upazila of Chuadanga district told the Bangladesh Post owners of cattle rearing farm will suffer if they do not get a chance to sell it to other districts in the country.  To maintain social distance Deputy Commissioner of ChuadangaNazrul Islam Sarker has arranged digital market for buying and selling the sacrificial animals in the district. 

According to district administration a face book page has been opened for sellers and purchasers. All type of information about owners and their sacrificial animals are being uploaded and after acknowledging the purchasers will contact with sellers for buying. 

Nazrul Islam Sarker, DC, urged upon all not to go to cattle markets for buying sacrificial animal. Stay at home, maintain social distance, save from coronavirus, sell and buy cattle or goats or sheep through district administration’s digital market.     

It may be mentioned here that farm owners, farmers and others are going to Union Parishad Tothy Seba Kendra and enlisted particulars of cattle for selling at `On Line Poshu Hut of District Administration. At least 38 Union Parishad Tothy Seba Kendra are uploading the information for On Line Poshu Hut.
