Onion, seeds, fertilisers distributed among farmers in Jhenaidah

The aim is to strengthen farmers’ socioeconomic state

Onion and maskalai seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed as incentives among 445 farmers free of cost on Monday. Lawmaker of Jhenaidah 1 seat also president of Bangladesh Awami League Jhenaidah district committee Abdul Hyee distributed the agriculture inputs at Shailkupa upazila parishad auditorium as chief guest. Upazila agriculture office in Shailkupa of Jhenaidah organized the programme.

Upazila agriculture office sources said to enhance the production of maskalai and onion, the agriculture materials and inputs were distributed among the farmers so that they might be more i0nterested in farming the two crops during the summer.

During the programme 375 farmers received onion seeds, while 170 farmers received maskalai seeds and fertilizer free of cost form the lawmaker.

Presided over by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury as chief guest, upazila parishad chairman M Abdul Hakim Ahmed, upazila parishad vice chairman Jahidunnabi Kalu anbd upazila agriculture officer (UAO) Anisuzzaman Khan were present as special guests.

 Dhalaharachandra union parishad chairman Matiar Rahman Biswas, Bangladesh Chhatra League Jhenaidah district unit president Sazib Hossain and Shailkupa upazila shechchhasewak league president Jewel Parvez Cornel among others were present. Agriculture extension officer (AEO) Abul Hasnat facilitated the event.

Lawmaker Abdul Hyee as the chief guest said the government of Sheikh Hasina has been moving towards a development country with her all-out efforts where the farmers have been producing additional crops including cereal crops. 

Bangladesh is now an exporter country of food-grains to some other countries. It has been eyeing for safer food production for better health and nutrition for every citizen. 

Abdul Hyee had urged upon the farmers to profitable crops like summer onion, maskalai and some other crops for their socio-economic strength and reduce the dependency on export from different countries. upazila parishad chairman M Abdul Hakim Ahmed, upazila parishad vice chairman Jahidunnabi Kalu, UNO Razia Akter Chowdhury and UAO Anisuzzaman Khan also seen.
