A Kishoreganj court on Monday awarded death penalty to one person and life term imprisonment to six others in a case filed over murder at Katiadi upazila in the district.
The death penalty awarded person is Mohammad alis Khokon and lifers are Taibur Rahman, Samrat, Ruman, Asrab Ali alis Ashok Ali, Majibur Rahman and Arab Ali hailed from Pachali Para village under Katiadi Upazila in Kishoreganj district.
The court fined Tk 2 lakh each under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code.
Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict.
As per the prosecution, the convicted person murdered Motiur Rahman over a previous enmity on March 27, 2011.
The victim's son Riaz Uddin filed a case against them with Katiadi Police Station. The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Abu Sayed Imam on behalf of the state and Advocate Ashok Sarker for convicted.
