One spot for power distribution cos

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said power distribution companies should have all facilities in one place. 

If new power connection, post-connection service, information service, bill payment and all others are done at one point, customer harassment will be reduced. 

The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony of Dhanmondi Twin Tower building at Hatirpool Power House Campus in Dhaka on Saturday, organized by Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC). 

He said the Twin Towers would have modern technology on one side and commercial space on the other. As a result, the income of DPDC will increase. There will be a digital museum in the building, which will make the new generation aware about the transformation of electricity and electrification in Bangladesh. 

The state minister directed those concerned to complete the work of the project expeditiously.

With an area of 7.32 acres of land in Dhanmondi, Twin Towers of DPDC, 50 per cent space will be open. In addition to technical issues and official space, the building will have 15 more floors on a three-story basement. There will be commercial space, digital museum, banquet hall, Cineplex, cafe and food court.

Engineer Bikash Dewan, Managing Director of DPDC presided over the function. Among others Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming (Li), Power Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, and TBEA Company Vice President Jackie Chen Dong also spoke at the event. 

Power Division officials said the project "Expansion and Strengthening of Power System Network under DPDC area" has been undertaken in collaboration with China to facilitate the supply of electricity to the customers in the DPDC area and increase the power distribution capacity. 

TBEA Company Limited of China is the EPC contractor of the project. Under the project, a total of 14 substations with 132/33 KV each, 26 substations with 33/11 KV each will be set up. Besides, SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) system will also be introduced. Along with it will be built a modern mechanized warehouse, 132 KV with 653 km length underground and 33 KV with 700 km length distribution line including modern substation cum office / commercial / residential high rise building. 

The DPDC operates mainly in the central, west and old part of Dhaka city and also most of Narayanganj city.
