One Piece Film: Red is set to release soon, and going along with its focus on music, the soundtrack features a song from none other than Steve Aoki.

The soundtrack for One Piece Film: Red is set to release soon, and it features a brand-new remixed theme from two-time Grammy-nominated artist Steve Aoki. One Piece Film: Red is the latest One Piece movie, and in a change from both other One Piece and anime movies, in general, there’s a heavy focus on music and singing in the movie.

Uta, the main antagonist, is a world-famous singer in the movie and is set to have multiple songs.

One Piece Film: Red’s focus on music is clear as day, and that’s taken even further with the soundtrack featuring a track composed by two-time Grammy-nominated artist Steve Aoki. Titled “Straw Hats Pirate Anthem — Steve Aoki Remix”, the song is a techno remix of three iconic One Piece themes by Hiroshi Kitadani: the original theme, “We Are!”, the first theme of the post-timeskip era, “We Go!”, and the first theme of the Wano arc, “Over The Top”. This isn’t the first time that One Piece has collaborated with an English artist, but it’s the first time it's been done in such a big way.

As previously mentioned, Steve Aoki’s collaboration on One Piece Film: Red isn’t the first time that the One Piece anime has had a collaboration with an English artist. When One Piece Film: Z was released in 2012, it featured covers of Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me” and Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” done by Avril Lavigne, with Eiichiro Oda even personally reaching out to Lavigne because of how much he liked her cover of “How You Remind Me” according to Anime News Network. Both songs were thematically appropriate for both Z and One Piece, as a whole, and it stood out as one of the first times that One Piece was truly selling itself as a worldwide franchise.
