Bangladesh Army has launched an one-minute free market for free vegetables and daily necessities for the poor in Chattogram on Wednesday.
The Army's 34 Engineer Construction Brigade is giving the opportunity to the enlisted poor people to collect all kinds of vegetables and daily necessities from the market in one minute and take them home completely free of cost.
The 1 minute market has been set at WASA Jamiatul Falah Mosque ground in Chattogram city.
Army's 34 Engineers Construction Brigade Captain Brigadier General Ahmed Tanvir Mazhar Siddiqui said the one-minute free vegetable market has been launched for the poor who have been left helpless.
At first, a list of poor people is made and a token is given to the listed people. They have to enter the nearest market by showing token and leave the market with the required vegetables or daily necessities in one minute.
In addition to helping the poor through this market this initiative of the Army is also helping the vegetable growers by purchasing their produced goods at a fair price.
Army officials said the 34 Engineer Construction Brigade of the Bangladesh Army is buying vegetables at a fair price from the marginal farmers of different upazilas including Satkania, Lohagara, Hathazari, Sitakunda and Raozan for the one-minute vegetable market.
Later, the poor day laborer families based in the area are listed and they are given the opportunity to buy these vegetables and daily necessities for free.
However, the army members are encouraging everyone to enter the market by showing tokens and leave the market within a minute. The market will run for a month, army officials said.
