A van driver named Mithu Mia died in a head-on collision between a battery operated van and an auto bike in Sundarganj Upazila of Gaibandha.
The incident took place at Sundarganj-Gaibandha road around 8 pm on Thursday.
The deceased Mithu Mia Gaibandha is the son of Shahab Uddin of Kishamat Malibari village of Lakshmipur Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila.
Eyewitnesses said a battery-powered auto van was heading towards Lakshmipur market. While reaching Indrapar Namaksthan, an auto bike coming from the opposite direction hit him.
As a result, the driver of the van fell down on the road and got hit on the head and died on the spot.
Sarkar Iftekharul Mokaddem, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj police station, confirmed the matter and said, 'Police have been sent to the spot after receiving the news.'
