One person was killed and 25 others were injured in a road accident when a picnic bus lost control and fell into a ditch at Ghatkhali area on the Amtali-Kuakata road under Amtali upazila of Barguna district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Islam, son of Samsuddin Bepari, resident of Chak village of Bandar police station of Narayanganj district.
The accident occurred in the area when the driver of a picnic bus from Narayanganj district to Kuakata lost control over the steering and the bus fell into a road side ditch at Ghatkhali on the Amtali-Kuakata road area around 5:30am, leaving 26 injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Amtali Police Station Tapu said.
Amtali Fire Service and locals rescued the injured and took them to Amtali Upazila Health Complex.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Amtali Hospital Dr Iram Ahmed said that among the injured, Islam died on the way to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
The driver and helper of the bus managed to escape.
