Police, in an anti-crime operation, arrested an alleged arms-trader with a firearm and ammunition from a place in the city on Friday night.
The arrested person was Imran Ahmed Emon, 22, son of Imtiaz Ahmed of Boharampur area under Rajpara Police Station in the metropolis.
On a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) carried out the search in Bhadra area under Chandrima Police Station and arrested Emon.Subsequently, the detectives recovered a foreign made pistol with two bullets and a lethal weapon after searching his residence based on his confession. RMP Commissioner Biplob Bijoy Talukder told the journalists that a couple of cases are pending against him with different police stations. He also said they have strengthened anti-crime operations to bring the listed criminals to book side by side with recovering the illegal firearms and ammunition ahead of the upcoming national election.
