Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested a man with 66,000 pieces of fake Bidi band-roll worth about Taka 6.40 lakh from Haragach Police Station area in Ramgpur metropolis on Monday night, reports BSS.
The arrested was identified as Md Rezzakul, 41, son of late Nur Islam of village Mena Bazar under the police station in the metropolis.
“A special team of the DB police led by Assistant Police Commissioner (Detective Branch and Media) of RpMP Faruk Ahmed arrested the man with the fake Bidi band-roll from Dhumerkuthi Kamartari area under Haragach Police Station,” a press release said here on Tuesday. During interrogation, the arrested admitted his involvement in trading fake Bidi band-roll with his absconding cohorts for assisting the local Bidi Factories in evading huge government revenue. “A case was filed in this connection under the Special Power Act of 1974 with Haragach Thana against the arrested person today,” the release said, adding that efforts were on to nab the absconding accused persons
