Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a drug trader with 10 kg hemp in the city's Bayazid thana area on Wednesday.
The detainee was identified as Enamul Hoq Manik, 32, hailed from Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bayazid thana Sanjoy Kumar Singha said they had information that some drug dealers were stationed in Roufabad area.
On tip-off, a team of police went on an operation, but the drug traffickers tried to escape sensing the police arrival. Police chased and caught the drug peddler from Roufabad area.
Police detained a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a mobile set with the hemp.A case was filed.
