One held in Cox’s Bazar child rape case

Police arrested one of the alleged rapists of a schoolchild at Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Friday night. It is learnt, the child, a student of class five was violated at a Tea garden of Ramu Upazila on Friday evening. 

Rafiqul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar informed at a press briefing held at District Superintendent of Police office informed, a student of a Government Primary School of Joarianala union of Ramu upazila went to visit neighbouring Naikkhangchhari upazila with her younger sister and a friend on Friday noon. 

On their way back home in a CNG autorickshaw, the child was talking with her friend near a Tea garden at Ramu when two miscreants, Saiful and his friend Shahed took the child to a nearby ditch in the hill and raped her. During the incident, the passengers in the CNG raised an alarm when local people rushed to the spot and the rapists managed to escape. 

Additional Superintendent of Police informed, being informed, police rescued the victim on Friday night and admitted her to the OCC of Cox's Bazaar district Hospital and arrested rapist Saiful Islam Sohel os of Nurul Islam of Pahariapara village under Joarinala union  by conducting operations the same night.  Police were also trying to arrest another accomplice of Shahed, he added.

Raheda Begum, mother of the victim has filed a case with Ramu Police station in this connection.
