One goes missing as trawler capsizes in Cox’s Bazar

A person went missing as a passenger carrying trawler capsized at Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf-Saint Martin’s route on Wednesday. A total of 11 persons were rescued at that time. 

The missing person was identified as Nur Mohammad, a student of second year in Teknaf Degree College.

The incident occurred around 2:00pm at Naf River estuary. Chairman of Saint Martin’s Island union Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said the incident occurred when the trawler was hit by a storm while going to Teknaf from Saint Martin’s Island. Later, people from nearby trawlers rescued 11 people of the capsized trawler. There were two children and three women among them. Youth Nur Mohammad is still missing.

Mujibur Rahman said the trawler was carrying various daily products to Teknaf from Saint Martin’s Island. The trawler was owned by Md. Saddam, resident of Saint Martin’s Island.
