The driver of a battery-run auto rickshaw was killed and a passenger of the vehicle was injured as a truck hit it from behind at Shibtala intersection in Chapainawabganj district town.
The deceased was identified as Md Rabiul, 27, son of Boby Maolana and the injured was Md Salim, 19, son of Babar Ali. Both of them are the residents of Narendrapur village in the Shahjahanpur union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.
Quoting locals, police said a speedy truck hit an auto-rickshaw from behind, killing its driver Rabiul on the spot and injuring its passenger Salim at Shibatala intersection at around 8:00 pm on Thursday.
Later, police from Chapainawabganj sadar thana recovered the body and sent it to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The injured is undergoing treatment at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.
Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Md Sajjad Hossain said that legal measures were being under process in this regard.
