One Covid death in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered only one death from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths rose to 28,017 with one addition to the latest figure.

The country recorded 269 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,578,819, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday. 

The current positivity rate stands at 1.34 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.25 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country. The deceased was a woman and was between 81-90 years old, added the release.

Around 20,052 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Some 249 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,543,740 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.78 percent.

As of Friday, 5,306,069 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 268,873,562 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
