Open market sale (OMS) of rice at Taka 30 per kilogram was started in Jhenaidah. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manira Begum inaugurated the selling at Pobahati area in the town on Thursday morning.
Awami League Jhenaidah district committee general secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, Jhenaidah municipality administrator Yearul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin, district food officer Hasan Mia, upazila controller of food Khandokar Tajuddin Ahmed, Krishak League Jhenaidah district unit general secretary Ashraful Islam and food dealer Shafiuddin among others present.
DC Manira Begum during inauguration of the rice distribution said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been doing anything and everything to feed the people at a lower cost when the prices of all essential commodities went higher following the global crisis. But each and everybody will be ensured food at any cost. He had advised the people involved in distributing the OMS rice to maintain discipline and impartiality so that each and every people rushing for the rice might not be deprived anyway.
