Omar Ahmed Majumder’ death anniversary held in Cumilla

The 26th death anniversary of Omar Ahmed Majumder was observed on Thursday in the Bagdda area of Nangalkot, Cumilla. Special prayer gatherings were held in various mosques, madrasas, and educational institutions to honour his memory and lifelong service.

Mr Majumder was a respected and popular figure who began his public service as a ward member, later becoming a Union Chairman, and eventually serving as a Member of Parliament. He was first elected from the greater Laksam and Nangalkot constituency and later from Nangalkot alone.

He is remembered as the founder of numerous educational institutions, including the Bangodda Badsha Mia High School and College, and many others across the then greater Laksam and Nangalkot regions. He also established several religious institutions and devoted himself to the welfare of his community.

Omar Ahmed Majumder was a true public servant who always prioritised the needs of ordinary people. Even decades after his passing, the local community fondly remembers and honours his legacy of service and dedication.
