Prices of edible oil, onion and vegetables have gone up during the week. On the other hand, the prices of other products remain unchanged.
The images surfaced while visiting capital's different kitchen markets at Rampura, Khilgaon, Santinagar and Badda areas.
The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, an organization of oil refiners and marketeers, on Thursday (May 28th) announced an increase in the price of soybean oil by Tk 9 per liter.
At present, one litre edible oil is being sold at Tk 144. According to the new price, bottled soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 153 per liter.
In these markets, carrots are sold at Tk 60 per kg, brinjal at Tk 30 to 40 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 40, okra at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg, tomato at Tk 50 per kg, string beans at Tk 30 per kg, pumpkin at Tk 30 per kg and snake gourd at Tk 30 per kg.
Parwal is being sold at Tk 50, shajne (Drum Sticks) at Tk 50 to Tk 60, potato at Tk 20, papaya at Tk 40 to 50, cucumber at Tk 50, and green chilli at Tk 40 to 50 per kg.
A vegetable trader at Rampura informed this journalist that price of vegetables have gone up due to short supply against market demand. On the other hand, cyclone impact is also there.
Sonali chicken’s price is Tk 230 to Tk 240 per kg, broiler chickens is being sold at Tk 135 to Tk 140 and layer chickens at Tk 240 to Tk 250 per kg.
The prices of beef, spices and other products remained unchanged in the market. Mutton is selling at Tk 700 to Tk 750 and beef at Tk 580 per kg.
Dried chillies at Tk 180 per kg, garlic at Tk 80 to Tk 120, ginger at Tk 80 to Tk 150 and turmeric at Tk 180 to Tk 220 per kg.
Sugar is being sold at Tk 75 per kg while packet sugar per kg is Tk 78.
However, price of different fishes remain same as past week.
In these markets, one kg chital fish was selling at Tk 450 to Tk 500 per kg, Awn fish at Tk 500, Rohi is at Tk 250 to Tk 350 per kg, Katla at Tk 280 to Tk 380, Tilapia sold at Tk Tk 150, Boal fish at Tk 400 to Tk 500, Pangas is sold at Tk 140 to Tk 170, Pabda sold at Tk 150 to Tk 250, and Shing sold at Tk 300 to Tk 450 (based on quality and size).
