Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday called for eliminating communal forces from the country, terming those as the enemies of Bangladesh, report BSS.

“The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is minority community friendly government. As long as this government is in power, minority communities don’t have to worry about their security,” he said. Quader came up with the observations while addressing a function organised to inaugurate Janmastami procession in capital’s Palashi intersection area on Friday afternoon.

Presided over by Mahanagar Sarbajonin Puja Committee president Shailandranath Mazumder, the function was further addressed by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Miah, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Milon Kanti Datta and Genereal Secretary Nirmal Kumar Chatterje, among others.

“We have a fantastic relation with neighboring India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit his country. I hope we will be able to take our existing mutual constructive partnership to a new height through the upcoming visit in October,” Quader added. DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon said as the country is moving forward financially under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country and its people are also progressing from the social, cultural and religious aspects.

“People irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religion in the country are enjoying religious freedom. The kind of communal harmony, which is prevailing here, is exemplary to all,” he added.
