Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor and Acting President of Bangabandhu Parishad Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique has said the oath-taking of Mujibnagar government was an astonishing event in the history of Bangladesh.
"The oath-taking ceremony of Mujibnagar government (Country' first government) was held on April 17 in 1971. It was a surprising in perspective of war-ravaged country," he told a virtual dissuasion on "First government of Bangladesh and its historical importance and significance".
Bangabandhu Parishad organized the discussion marking the historic Mujibnagar Day, a press release said.
Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said on April 17, 1971, the oath-taking ceremony of country' first government was held as like as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took oath at Ganabhaban on January 12 in 1972.
The Trustees of the Bangladesh Liberation War Museum Mufidul Haque, Vice Chancellor of Barisal University Prof Dr Md Sadequl Arefin, Professor Dr Md Abul Qashem of History Department of Rajshahi University, Professor Benu Kumar De, Dr Ayubur Rahman, Economist Professor Abul Barkat, deputy registrar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and joint secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Dr Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun addressed the discussion.
General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad and Chairman of Pharmacy Department of Dhaka University Prof ABM Faruq conducted the discussion.
