Nusraat Faria: Standing strong amid change in film industry

Actress Nusraat Faria has been keeping a low profile for the past few months. Her last major role was in ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’, where she portrayed a young Sheikh Hasina.

Since then, the actress has faced criticism following the political shift in the country, especially after a student-led uprising. However, she clarified that she wasn't in Bangladesh during the anti-discrimination movement as she traveled to Canada for a series of shows on July 10 and returned on August 17.

In a recent interview, Faria addressed the situation, explaining that she took time off after her trip but has now stayed away from film sets for nearly three months. "This is the longest I've been away from filming since my career began," she shared. Faria highlighted that many in the entertainment industry, including those behind the scenes, are also struggling, and called for government support to help them during these uncertain times.

When asked about the social media trolling she's been facing, Faria said, "I've been in this industry for 12 years, and throughout that time, I have worked with the Awami League when approached. If people now view me as an AL supporter, there's nothing I can do to change their minds."

Faria emphasized that her primary role is to entertain the public, not get involved in politics. She also expressed her willingness to work with the interim government if invited.

"I hope the current government will focus on the country's needs and help restore the entertainment industry to its former glory," she concluded
