Nurul Islam new DG of BWDB

Engineer Nurul Islam Sarkar joined Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) as Director General on Wednesday. Prior to joining the present post, he was serving as Additional Director General (Western Region).

He obtained BSc in Civil Engineering degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in 1987. He joined the Bangladesh Water Development Board as Assistant Engineer in 1988 and performed his duties efficiently in various positions.

During his service life, he performed the duties with success and efficiency in various departments including Teesta Barrage project, design, planning, Khulna-Jesore drainage project, various important river bank conservation projects, irrigation, flood control and drainage projects at headquarters and field level.

During his 35 years of service in Bangladesh Water Development Board, he successfully participated in various seminars and trainings in Vietnam and Italy and successfully applied the acquired knowledge in the development of Bangladesh Water Development Board.

  Engineer Nurul Islam Sarkar was born in 1964 in Gaibandha district. He is a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
