Bangladeshi filmmaker Nuhash Humayun’s horror web-series Dui Shaw has made a remarkable impression at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada, with its premiere screening selling out completely. The festival, known for showcasing horror, supernatural, and fantasy films, is hosting the event where Nuhash is attending in person.
Following the sold-out premiere, a second screening of Dui Shaw is scheduled for August 1. This marks Nuhash’s third appearance at North America’s largest genre film festival, following his earlier works Pett Kata Shaw, Moshari, and Foreigners Only.
Nuhash is no stranger to international recognition, having received multiple festival nominations and awards. The Fantasia Festival praised him on its official Facebook page, calling him a “creatively inventive young filmmaker” who has taken Bangladeshi horror to new frontiers, especially in the second season of his work.
Unlike many filmmakers who must submit their projects for consideration, Nuhash revealed that festival curators often reach out to him directly to showcase his films and web-series due to their growing popularity.
Dui Shaw explores modern horror themes beyond traditional folklore and superstition, delving into the darker sides of human psychology. The anthology consists of four chilling stories titled Waqt, Bhaggo Bhalo, Antara, and Besura.
Previously, Nuhash’s films Moshari and Foreigners Only earned awards at the Fantasia Festival. The 2025 edition of the festival began on July 16 and will continue through August 3, providing a platform for genre filmmakers worldwide to present innovative and thrilling content.
Nuhash’s continued success highlights the rising global presence of Bangladeshi horror cinema and his unique contribution to the genre.
