A group of students from Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has developed an artificial intelligence-based software to help doctors provide coronavirus treatment and monitor the people in quarantine.
The software dubbed as “Dr, Corona” was written by analyzing 13000 data of patients suffering from coronavirus from China’s Wuhan, said Ahmed Kowsher, who led the three-member team that build it.
“We used Bangla Voice Recognition, Bangla Language Processing, Bangla Chatbot, Machine Learning Classifier, Machine Learning Algorithm, web apps to develop the software as well as added 6 types of 16,000 emotion detection data,” said Ahmed, a student of Applied Mathematics at NSTU.
According to Ahmed, the software will help detect a new patient and ask someone to go for a coronavirus testing after analyzing the symptoms of virus.
It will learn from the new patient data and the activity of its machine learning algorithm will be developed automatically in addition to providing updates to police, and hospitals.
Ahmed said, “The software will function on the basis of machine learning algorithm and can understand the patients emotions. Like a doctor, it will ask question to a person suspected with coronavirus, and prescrib a daily routine based on replies.
“Besides, the software will be a friend to the people who are in quarantine as it features poems, songs, stories, jokes to entertain them while it will change the daily routine according to the updated information,” said Ahmed.
Two other students also helped Ahmed developed the software. They are SK Faisal Ahmed from NSTU’ Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering discipline and Avishek Das from Computer Science and Engineering department Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology.
Ahmed, however, said a small fund is required to make the software open for all. “All works are we need a fund of Tk 2-3 lakh to make the software available for everyone," he said.
