NSTU sets example in Covid-19 fighting

Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has set example of fighting with Covid-19 by taking many initiatives and got success in these activities. 

The NSTU has tested more than 17 thousand samples using their own RT PCR machine and the testing has been started since May 11 in the lab of Department of Microbiology.

Recently NSTU has started research work for unveiling the sequence of the 100 corona virus samples at Covid-19 Diagnostic Lab of NSTU. This research is conducted by the joint initiative of NSTU and the Genome Research Institute of North South University.

For the testing of Covid-19 in NSTU, UGC has congratulated to NSTU VC Prof Dr Md Didar Ul Alam and NSTU Covid-19 detection team.  

The  quality of Covid-19sample testing in NSTU Lab has been 100% verified by IEDCR for two times. NSTU students are working in this lab as volunteers with the guidance of Prof Dr. Newaz Mohammed Bahadur (Coordinator, COVID-19 testing lab), Prof Dr. Firoz Ahmed (Director, COVID-19 testing lab), Md. Shahadat Hossain (Lecturer, Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering).

Besides, NSTU students get theoretical and practical knowledge on Covid-19 detection and the training program of Covid-19 detection was organized in the Department of Microbiology of NSTU. NSTU students prepared hand sanitizers 2 times for the protection of the people of Noakhali from Covid 19 and these were prepared in the lab of Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. 

NSTU administration also open free tele health service, free ambulance service to its teachers, students and officials. NSTU teachers, officials donate their 1-day salary to PM's fund for standing beside Covid-19 effected people. 

NSTU students organizations, teachers organizations also give financial support to covid 19 effected people and covid 19 effected students of NSTU.  NSTU administration creates opportunity for its students to take free online course from online education platform "Coursera".

NSTU teachers get success on development of Covid-19 detection kit and they are-Professor Dr Firoz Ahmed (Chairman, Department of Microbiology) and Professor Dr. Newaz Mohammed Bahadur (Chairman, Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering). 

NSTU students get success on developing software to solve Covid 19 based problems and they are- M Shahanul Islam (Department of Fisheries and Marine Science), Ahmed Kowsher (Department of Applied Mathematics) and SK Faisal Ahmed (Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering).
