The National Productivity Organization (NPO) and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) have agreed to work together for increasing productivity in different sectors of the national economy. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two parties for this purpose, according to DCCI press release on Thursday.
In presence of Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim, NPO Director Mohammad Salauddin and DCCI President Osama Taseer inked the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at a function at the Industries Ministry in the city. Senior officials of the Industries Ministry were also present on the occasion.
Abdul Halim said Bangladesh is moving fast to be an economically developed country and there have already been positive changes in all sectors, including the industrial sector. “The world community is lauding Bangladesh for the positive changes,” he added. He said Bangladesh is fast moving forward on the highway of economic prosperity.
“Already, there has been positive change in all sectors, including the industrial sector, and the world community is praising this qualitative change in Bangladesh,” he added. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will strengthen efforts to increase productivity in various industries and sub-divisions of the country, he informed.
Following this example, he hoped that other chambers and trade bodies would join such initiatives to increase productivity, he further said. However, at least 5 training workshops will be organized every year in joint ventures of NPOs and DCCIs to increase productivity in various industries and sub-sectors.
The NPO will send resource parsons to these workshops. On the other hand, DCCI will bear the cost of these training. Besides, DCCI will be organizing 2 seminars or workshops centrally to promote productivity every year. NPO will provide technical assistance in implementing these programs. In addition, DCCI will assist NPO in celebrating National Productivity Day on October 12 every year.
As part of this, DCCI's headquarters and member organizations will provide necessary assistance in various programs of National Productivity Day. The Memorandum of Understanding was further mentioned that the NPO would send the 'National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award' notification to the DCCI office on time.
Accordingly, the DCCI will notify the member organizations and encourage them to apply. It was also agreed that both companies would work on mutual assistance in implementing the Technical Expert Service Program provided by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
