The Film Directors' Association organized 'Notun Mukher Shondhane' competition in 2018 to solve the film artist crisis in Dhaka film industry. But the show was cancelled due to several problems. After a one-year break, 'Notun Mukher Shondhane-2020’ will start once more. This year's organizer is Bangladesh Film Directors’ and Producer-Distributor Association. Badiul Alam Khokon, secretary general of the Film Directors' Association said that a formal announcement of the programme will be made at a press conference soon. Meanwhile, a committee of 13 members has been formed.
The committee consists of 6 members from Film Directors' Association, 6 members from Producer-Distributor Association and 1 member from BFDC. Khokon also said the final competition will be held in Dhaka after the initial selection round in eight division cities. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation will provide technical assistance, grooming and rehearsal venues. According to organizer sources, this year there will be seven categories in 'Notun Mukher Shondhane- 2020'.
The categories are heroes, heroines, supporting actors, actresses, villains, comedians and child actors. Organizers think that this year's competition will feature some really talented actors who can overcome the industry crisis. The competition was previously held in 1984, 1988 and 1990. Manna, Diti, Misha Saudagar, Amit Hasan, Amin Khan and many other stars came to the industry through the competition.
