A twelve-day group water colour art exhibition titled ‘Notun Dekha Puran Dhaka’ by the artist group ‘Joloj’ comes to an end today at Gallery Shilpangan, in Dhanmondi of the capital.
The exhibition was being organised to celebrate the 27 years of patronizing art and beauty of the private art gallery Shilpangan. ‘Notun Dekha Puran Dhaka’ is the fifth exhibition by ‘Joloj’.
‘Notun Dekha Puran Dhaka’ is an exhibition that brings out different nooks and shades of the ever fascinating, rustic Old Dhaka (Puran Dhaka) through canvas.
A number of 70 artworks by seven artistes are put on display at the exhibition. Every canvas portrays the subtle beauty, legacy, architecture, and heritage buildings of the old town.
The involved artists- Mosiur Rahman Choudhury, Shaymal Biswas, Sadek Ahmed, Azmal Uddin Palash, Bishan Bhakta, Al-AkhirSarker and Biplob Chakroborty portrayed their views and findings from Cowk bazaar, Shakhari Bajar, Lalbagh Kella, Ahsan Monjil, Poribibier Mazar, Mosques, Horses, and other streets and alleys of Old Dhaka through beautiful brush strokes on canvas.
Earlier, on May 1, BGMEA President Rubana Huq inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on the gallery premises, where eminent writer-researcher Mafidul Haque, art critic Moinuddin Khaled and architect Taimur Islam, CEO of Urban Study Group, attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
