None to face food crisis in pandemic

Ctg div commissioner says while distributing PM’s gift

Prime Minister's gift items have been distributed to the indigent, uprooted, homeless, extremely poor, physically handicapped, building construction and transport workers of different classes and professions at the initiative of Chittagong District Administration on during corona lockdown situation. Chattogrm Divisional Commissioner Md Kamrul Hasan NDC distributed these gift items among 1,500 helpless families were present as the chief guest at MA Aziz Stadium on Thursday morning.

Each packet contained 7 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of gram, 1 liter of soybean oil, 1 bar of soap.  Volunteer teams from various organizations assisted in the relief work. Chittagong Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mominur Rahman presided over the function.  Assistant Commissioner (Land-Headquarters) Masuma conducted the parade. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman was the special guest on the occasion.

Nasir Uddin, Divisional Commissioner's PS and Executive Magistrate Khandaker Md Ikhtiyar Uddin Arafat, Land Acquisition Officer Ashraful Hasan, Assistant Commissioner (Land-Chandgaon) Mamnoon Ahmed Anik, Staff Officer to  DC and Executive Magistrate Md. Umar Faruq, NDC and Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, Executive Magistrate Nur Jahan Akter Sathy, Suraiya Yasmin, Fahmida Afroz, Nivedita Chakma, Rezwana Afrin, Sonia Haque, Zillur Rahman, Ashraful Islam,  Sajib Kumar Chakraborty, District Nazir Md Jamal Uddin were present at this occasion.

Divisional Commissioner said that the whole world is in turmoil today due to the global epidemic.  The Chittagong district administration has stood by the indigent and unemployed people of the society with humanitarian assistance under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the father of the nation.

“No people will be in food crisis during the Corona period.  The government has instructed us to take care of this matter.  Strict supervision is being exercised so that no unemployed person is excluded from government assistance.  In order to ensure that no one will be homeless in the year of Mujib, houses are being built on two hundred places of the homeless across the country as a gift of the Prime Minister at full government expense”, he added.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said the country's economy has collapsed due to the corona outbreak just as Bangladesh is moving towards a developing country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  At this time the whole world is going through a very bad time.  The government has extended a helping hand to those who are living in dire straits in the Corona situation.  At this time, like all over the country, the greetings given by the government are being delivered to every poor and needy family in Chittagong.  We will soon be able to come out of the global catastrophe of the Corona epidemic if we maintain 100% hygiene including maintaining physical distance and wearing masks.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mominur Rahman said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given clear instructions to bring relief to all the working people who have lost their jobs or are in dire straits in the Corona situation.  Everyone who is living in extreme hardship will be brought under government relief.  We want no one to starve in this situation.  Government support will continue as long as the lockdown continues.

 He said that among the lower and middle class people who are hesitant to seek help in public or call the government on 333 and send SMS to us asking for help, gifts are being delivered to their homes every night.
