Non-govt teachers demand cancellation of 10% salary cut

The non-government teachers formed human chain and arranged rallies in different districts demanding the government order of 10 per cent cut from salary for welfare fund and retirement benefit.

In Jhalokati, district unit of Bangladesh Teachers’ Association (BTA) formed a human chain in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) to realise their demand, reports our Jhalokati Correspondent Later, the teachers submitted a memorandum to President and Prime Minister through the DC of Jhalokati.

BTA’s Jhalokathi district unit president Md Tofazzol Hossain Hawlader, General Secretary Shwapon Kumar Das, Joint general Secretary Md Faruque Hossain, Ripon Kuman Halder, Headmaster Sunil Boron Hallder, Headmaster Mizanur Rahman among others, spoke at the human chain.

The speakers said the decision of 10 per cent cut from salary of non-government teachers for retirement benefit and welfare fund is not acceptable. “We will wage tougher programme if the extra fur per cent cut is not cancelled,” they said. 

In Jhenidah, the district unit of BTA brought out a procession in the district town demanding cancellation of the order of 10 per cent cut from their salary, reports our Roving Correspondent. The teachers also submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister and Education Minister through the DC of Jhenidah.
