Non-government staff working at the Government Colleges in the country formed a human chain in Rajshahi on Saturday morning demanding inclusion of their jobs in the revenue sector.
Organised by the Non-government Employees Union of the Government Colleges, Rajshahi division, the human chain programme was presided over by the President of the union Ehsanul Kabir. Conducted by Shafiqul Islam Sweet, Gen Secy of the union, the human chain was attended and addressed, among others, by the Chief Adviser of the union Hafizur Rahman, Vice-President Abdul Bashar, Nurul Islam, Sumon Sarker, Badiuzzaman Nayan, Arif Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Afzal Hossain, Monowar Hossain Monu, Tohrul Islam, Motaleb Hossain Pappu, Rafiqul Islam, Masud Rana, Atiqur Rahman, Nayan Kumar Paul, Mehedi Hasan Moon, James Satya Ranjan Das, Seema Khatun and Mousumi Ahmed.
Speakers in the human chain said it has turned unbearable to survive under the sky-scrapping prices of all commodities in the markets.
They have been spending inhuman lives with their family members with a meagre salary and often they are taking only one meal a day to survive.
They further mentioned that during the Corona period, they had performed their duties sincerely by risking their lives and they are still working round the clock for their institutions. They further said they do not know what is luxury because they are only striving to manage a daily meal with the meagre salary they are receiving.
They demanded to increase in their salaries as soon as possible and to include their jobs under the government revenue.
After the human chain, all the non-government staff of the government college gathered at the auditorium of Rajshahi College to hold a meeting.
