The recent surge in Covid-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc on every aspect of our lives again. In the midst of the pandemic, we also need to keep ourselves away from various non-communicable diseases. That literally is a stern task and in order to stay healthy, we should eat various types of fruit and vegetables every day for better health.

Due to the growing pollution level in the capital, non-communicable diseases (NCD) like heart, diabetes and cancer are increasing alarmingly raising serious concerns. City corporations are responsible for urban health, and they should be committed to helping the Ministry of Health addressing the NCD's challenges.

Exercise and physical activity are

necessary for the prevention of

non-communicable diseases

Exercise and physical activity are necessary for the prevention of non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. The local government institutions have an important role to play in ensuring a conducive physical environment and the supply of fresh vegetables and fruits.

Alongside safe diet, it is also necessary to make arrangements for physical exercise in order to prevent non-communicable diseases. This can be ensured through urban planning, infrastructure development, budget allocation and proper law enforcement.

We hope that the policymakers would address the pertinent matters regarding non-communicable diseases and allocate enough resources to make new policies. Laws should be reformed regarding the treatment of non-communicable diseases. The capacity of district level hospitals should be increased so that the patients outside Dhaka does not have to come here for better treatment.
