Nomination of 6 NCC mayor aspirants declared valid

After scrutinizing the submitted nomination papers six candidates of mayoral post were declared as valid among eight candidates.

Two mayor candidates submitted nomination papers became invalid in the scrutinizing process due to bank loan defaulter and faulty application.

The returning officer of Narayanganj City Corporation election-2022, Mahfuza Akter declared the name of the valid and invalid mayoral candidates at Deputy Commissioner’s premises on December 20.

The valid mayor candidates are Awami League nominated Nara­yanganj district unit Awami League senior vice president, independent candidate who belongs president of Narayanganj district unit BNP as well as advisor of BNP’s chairperson, Advocate Taimur Alam Khandoker, Khelafat Majlish backed candidate ABM Sirajul Mamun, Bangladesh Khelafot Andolon nominated candidate Mohammad Jasimuddin, Islami Andolon backed candidate Mawlana Mohammad Masum Billah and Bangladesh Kalyan Party backed Mohammad Rashed Ferdous.

Meanwhile, two independent candidates Mohammad Sultan Mahmud and Kamrul Islam nomination papers turned as invalid in scrutinizing.

As per election schedule, symbols would be given on December 28 and a total of 5, 17,357 voters will exercise their vote on January 16, 2022.
