Noakhali district social service office and district administration have organized a discussion meeting in Noakhali on the occasion of the World Autism Awareness Day 2022.
Deputy Commissioner Dewan Mahbubur Rahman was present as the chief guest in the meeting conducted at the DC conference hall in Noakhali town. Attended as a special guest, Civil Surgeon DrMasum Iftekhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Israt Sadmeen along with representatives of various voluntary social welfare organizations of the district and representatives of Disability Services and Relief Centers and hundreds of students with disabilities were present at the time.
Representatives of the discussion voluntary social welfare organization said that although there are 45,361 people with different types of disabilities in Noakhali, there are no reserved seats for the disabled in buses, CNG or any other vehicle in the district. That is why they have to suffer a lot of harassment. In addition, many shops, hotels or shopping malls do not allow people with disabilities to enter. They also requested the district administration and social services department to take action on these issues soon.
