‘No vaccine, no service’

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said that those who do not get vaccinated will have to keep their shops closed until they get jabbed and no one will be able to receive or provide any service without vaccination certificate.

“We will run the mobile court from March 1. Trade licences of those will be seized and shops will be closed who will not get vaccinated. They will neither get any service from City Corporation nor will be able to provide any service or run their business,” he said.

The mayor gave the warning while inspecting the progress of the mass vaccination campaign in the Kosai Bari Railgate area on Friday.

“Get vaccinated yourself, ask others to get vaccinated too. No vaccines, no service,” said the mayor.

Atiqul Islam said 60 percent people have been vaccinated in Dhaka North City Corporation area. Our goal is to bring 100 percent of the people under vaccination. 

The DNCC mayor further said that one should get vaccinated and ask their employees, doorman, maid, staff to get vaccinated. Those who do not have national identity card or birth registration certificate can also get vaccinated only with the mobile number without any problem.

"Even after making it so easy, appropriate action will be taken against those who do not get jabbed. Vaccination does not cost money and the people of the country are protected. Everyone needs to be vaccinated to ensure their own safety and the safety of others," he said.

Mayor Md Atiqul Islam visited the vaccination centers of DNCC established in Zone-1, and 8 areas on Friday morning.

At the end of the visit, the mayor said, "Vaccination usually pauses on Fridays. However, the office of the North City Corporation has been kept open on Fridays for people of different professions who are busy on other days of the week.”

The mayor mentioned that the first dose of vaccine will be stopped after the 26th. Hence, those who have not taken any dose, must take the first dose by Saturday.

Highlighting the development of the new wards, Mayor Atiqul Islam said, "Our prime minister will inaugurate the road work of these new wards from Ganabhaban on March 7.

Senior officials of Dhaka North City Corporation including local councillors were present on the occasion.

A total of 54 centers have been set up in 54 wards of Dhaka North City Corporation and nine centers in each of the 75 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation as part of the mass vaccination program. Vaccines are available at the centers without any registration. At the end of getting jabbed the people will be given a certificate of vaccination.
