Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and pacer Mustafizur Rahman will recover from injury to participate in the upcoming Zimbabwe tour, as there is no doubt about their inclusion. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Debashish Chowdhury told the media on Saturday.

The national team cricketers are busy playing in the DPL where several cricketers got injured while playing including Tamim, Mustafiz, Liton Das, and Taskin Ahmed. Tamim had withdrawn from the DPL Super League due to knee pain. According to Debashish, the pain will heal faster after resting, however, there is no fear about having him in the Zimbabwe tour.

“Tamim has been talking about his knee pain for the last few days. He’s in touch with us about the injury. As the intensity of the pain increased three days ago, we all decided to take care of the injury and think about the future,” he said.

“He decided to withdraw from the DPL. He is under the care of full-time physios and is at rest. Hopefully, if he can ensure complete rest, the pain intensity will decrease in 4-5 days. We will scan if needed. It seems that he will get better if he takes a full rest and there is no uncertainty over the Zimbabwe tour at the moment,” he added.

Mustafiz has recovered from the pain after few days of rest. However, Taskin’s injury update would be known after some time. Debashish also said that according to the report of physiotherapy, Liton is on the way to recovery.

“Liton has been suffering from wrist strain for more than two weeks. We have 2-3 weeks in hand, I think it’s enough for recovery. That’s why I don’t see any uncertainty in their participation,” said Debashish.

Bangladesh will play three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is with a one-off Test against Zimbabwe.
