The tailors of Mirzaganj in Patuakhali are having a busy time ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. They are working from morning till late night with no time to catch their breath.

The business has suffered a lot in the last two years due to the pandemic and the traders are trying to make up for all the losses this year.

It has been seen on the spot that all the tailor shops in the neighborhood including Subidkhali Bazar, Upazila-Sadar are in full swing to make new clothes. There is also a pile of clothes on the floor of the shop. There are clothes of different colors and designs hanging on the right and left walls.

There is a continuous knocking sound of the sewing machine. In the meantime, orders for new clothes are being taken. At the same time the work of cutting clothes according to the size is also going on. A number of tailor shops in Upazila Sadar Subidkhali Bazar have been visited by such busy people and crowds of shoppers. There is no need for tailors to catch their breath.

It's not just the famous Mummy Tailors Hayes who are having a busy time around Eid. With Eid in mind, the small tailor shops in the neighborhood are now busy day and night. The same picture has been seen in different tailor shops in the village.

Some tailors say that they have stopped taking orders to make clothes from Sunday because it is not possible to complete and deliver in time. A few days later Eid-ul-Fitr will arrive. There is not much time in hand. Those who do not like to read readymade garments or are accustomed to read in the size and design of their choice, are now flocking to the tailor shops. That is why the tailor shops of 6 unions including Upazila Sadar are very busy now.

The tailor shopkeepers said, "It's too busy now, we don't have time to catch our breath. However, this busyness has started since the beginning of the month of Ramadan. In the beginning I had to work from morning to evening, and now I have to work from morning to late night.”

Md. Shahidul Islam, proprietor of Suncity Tailors in Subidkhali Bazar, said, “I have been getting orders for garments one week before the start of Ramadan this year. However, due to the pandemic, there has not been much business in the last two years. Since there is no corona this time, many orders are being received. Taking new orders has almost stopped. I hope I can make up for the deficit of the last two years this year.”
